vray, good choice. I wonder what it would look like in Maxwell. Are the backgrounds simply placed jpegs or something like a skydome? I've been having trouble with getting realistic backgrounds in animation...any help would be appreciated.

I rendered a spherical environment map and used it like a skydome. I placed the spherical map in the environment slot instead of creating an actual dome.
