Approach to ILS 21 in Frankfurt-Hahn on a windy and rainy day in October. We descended to the decision altitude and started then the missed approach procedure. RYAN AIR Jets in front, above and behind us ;-)
Typical ILS intercept with S-TEC autopilot in NAV/APR mode results in
overshoot and wandering in lateral and vertical axes due to nature of analog
rate-based sensor & pressure transducer, especially in a crosswind condition, which was the case this day. Max. certified crosswind is 12kt for the S-TEC55X. I let the A/P go to see what happens and did not intervene.
