The Mau-instigated divide in the Orange Democratic Movement-ODM persisted with agriculture minister William Ruto and his tourism counterpart Najib Balala staying away from a party meeting chaired in Mombasa by Prime Minister Raila Odinga. speaking to party members who attended the function, Raila adopted a reconciliatory tone saying differences within the party should not necessarily end in separation. The contested conservation of the Mau triggered the battle between Raila and Ruto with the agriculture minister protesting the eviction of squatters from the forest. However, the premier maintains he is ready to pay the political price for the conservation of the Mau. NTVs Brenda Mulinya reports.
