Thibaut de Champagne scrisse in lingua d'oil varie, belle poesie, la cui lettura influenzò il pensiero, l'arte e l'estetica di Dante.
Una sua chicca, dolce e bellissima: per dare un bacio, non si bacia sulla bocca l'amata: questo è, infatti, il modo con cui si bacerebbe qualunque pastorella; la donna amata va invece baciata al piede, ed è da questo gesto che l'amata riconosce il suo amante.
