Ashraf abu Suleiman

Ashraf, 16, was shot by an Israeli soldier in the neck along his spinal cord on October 4. Ashraf gave his testimony from Shifa hospital, paralyzed along his right side and in great pain.

According to the youth, he had been in the Sudaniya area of northern Gaza, at the sea, over 1 km from the norther Green Line border with Israel. The teen says he ran, frightened, when Israeli soldiers in a gunboat began firing on Palestinian fishermen off the coast.

Frightened and thinking it safer to run north, Suleiman says that he ran along the coast. When he was roughly 500 m from the northern border, the boy was shot in the neck, the bullet entering from the front and exiting from the back, grazing C4 and C5 of the spinal cord.

He said that he lay on the beach bleeding for a long time, then Israeli soldiers approached him, kicked him in the face and began to drag him by his hands. At the same time, one or more dogs accompanying the Israeli soldiers began biting at him. When he tried to fend them off, a soldier again kicked him in the face.

Suleiman says that he was taken to an unknown hospital in Israel where he was not admitted, denied treatment. He says that doctors at the hospital claimed he was fine and not in need of treatment.

He was transferred back to the Erez crossing where Palestinian medics met him. They were forcibly prevented from bringing Ashraf back to Gaza. The teen says that Israeli soldiers surrounded the medics, pointed their guns at the driver, and told them they were not taking Ashraf anywhere.

He says that he was made to wait under the sun for at least an hour before finally the Israeli soldiers permitted him to return to Gaza.

At the time of his testimony, it was unknown whether the injury will develop into lasting paralysis.

Nasty isralis they are just rotten people, I worked with one in the USA he told me in confidence he was a rabbi. I think he wanted to be able to keep cursing and teasing women.
