It shows behind all the happy sounds, there was a lot of pressure in the recording sessions, lots of time pressure, because the group had to do gigs as well. Because they were a hit group, there was extra perfectionism on the sessions, they had to be just right. As noted by others, the young Beach Boys had attention deficit disorder and raging hormones to contend with.
