SUGAR LAND, Texas -- Imagine working years to pay off your new vehicle, only to find out you were signed up under a lease instead of an actual purchase plan.
It's just one of dozens of complaints investigative reporter Amy Davis has received since she first uncovered what some said are deceptive sales tactics at a Sugar Land car dealership.
Thanks to Click2Houston.com for their excellent report - Nov 22, 2007.

@emforty2 Look GM Corporate only knows what the Dealership tells us, it's when we get complaints and evidance from owners of vehicles that we start to investigate, and that is why WE pulld GMAC financing from them.

ShakeitUp09- Thanx for the comments.
Why yes I am a stooge(Shemp). Sounds like this dealership were real assholes. If she sues them her copy of the contract will be the relevant evidence to decide if it was a sale or lease. I was not defending the dealership.
I too have had slimeball dealers try to screw me. After agreeing to purchase a car, I was to pick it up a couple of days later. Not trusting I copied the VIN from the car. When I went to get it the VIN was different . I walked out.

delmer221 - Maybe you need to watch the video again. The dealership made up separate and fraudulent lease contracts with unfavorable terms and submitted those to the bank. The paperwork that the customer signed during the initial transaction was not used at all. Why would you defend a company that has been driven out of business due to the weight of litigation. Are you a stooge?

Unless they comitted fraud on the contract some of the responsibility has to go to the buyer. Read anything you sign! If her copy says it is a lease, it is a lease. Not saying they didn't screw her, but if she did not understand maybe a friend/relative could have helped her.

you're wrong, because rather than saying no, the employees did the corrupted work as they were instructed to do.

Do you realize how awful you sound? You think we should keep giving our money to a DISHONEST COMPANY just to pay for 'honest employee' salaries? Sorry that's not how things work. Bill Heard is a crook. It's sad that his honest employees were ALSO screwed over by him. But that's not the consumer's responsibility. Had he not scammed people, his employees would still have jobs.
Thank goodness Bill Heard is BANKRUPT. Now he can't scam anyone else.
