A short, jazzy composition from Andrew York, written for his LAGQ compatriot John Dearman. Performed on a La Patrie 'Motif', a little parlor classical. The music for this piece is published in York's "Jazz Guitar for Classical Cats".

  • You have a truly beautiful sense of swing - some of those phrases and entrances just ever so slightly behind the beat - yet without ever losing that "in the pocket" backbone rhythm. It communicates so much, and yet with such subtlety.

  • @rlholo Wow, thanks, man! That's without a doubt the nicest comment I've ever gotten!

  • Nice, is this the motif? If so do you notice a difference with a brightness rather than the full size classical? I'm thinking about getting one for playing outside.

  • Thanks. I don't notice a difference with brightness. It's actually darker than my Bogdanovich. The overall character, especially in the trebles, is not as refined, but it is very good for the money.

  • is that a Pepe Romero, Jr guitar?

  • Thanks to all for your kind words.

kbkesq: No, that is actually a cheap La Patrie 'Motif', a Canadian factory built parlor guitar. I have fun playing it though!

  • I just bought the Motif as my first guitar to learn to play after researching the web and trying several. Much easier on my old fingers than the Yamahas that I had first thought about.

As a very just beginning beginner, I'm enjoying it. You make it look so easy and the sound you are getting from it shows me I have a LONG way to go in the basics but also gives me something to strive to achieve. Thank you.
