It is in fact the essence of the birdsong that is preserved through this music. The physical aspects are different and fantasized, but the essence is beautifully obvious....

@Strefanash Surely Messiaen listened to bird song more closely than you (and me, and everyone), he himself was an ornithologist. And this is music, a human production, it's not a "mechanical windup doll called bird song". I'm not sure if bird song could be called music, but it doesn't mind. (yes, I'm a Messiaen fan, but I'm not angry or trying to insult you)

Surely if Messaien closely listened to bird song he would realize that it could NEVER be imitated without killing the essence of it.

What he has done is to makle a mechanical windup doll and call it birdsong.

This is not the colocation of the orchestra advised by Messiaen. I suppose that it doesn't mind when you are listening to the music at home with the pc, but I think that the acoustical effect could be very different in the concert hall.

Anyway, I like this version.

Way too fast. He's going ahead of Messiaen's tempo indication of eighth note = 69 bpm to 108 bpm.
