My favorite Hunter Thompson book is HELL'S ANGELS. It was written pre-celebrity, when he was a working journalist rather than a brand name for drunken literary rebellion. I like Paul Cowan too, his book about how much he hated the Peace Corps, MAKING OF AN UN-AMERICAN, is really good. Incidentally we have that Sale book at Pratt Central....

@ferdinandthecrow I have "Hell's Angels"; it will probably be my next Thompson, but I'm not in much of a hurry. I have "Un-American," too, haven't read it yet. I wonder if he's the same Paul Cowan who directed the Canadian anti-pornography documentary "Give Me Your Soul"? And I'm not surprised we have Sale at the Pratt; we have just about everything at the Pratt!

Peter Hurd...he did an official portrait of LBJ that LBJ hated....LBJ said "That's the ugliest thing I ever saw." (If it's the same Peter Hurd.)

@ferdinandthecrow That's hilarious. The illustrations in this one looked pretty good. Of course, it could be a different Peter Hurd, just as I suspect it's a different James Baldwin.

Awesome haul! I love your hauls! It gives me new books to look at. I hope that I can sometime go to the book thing. Even though MD is really far away. LOL! Thank you so much for showing us the books you got!!
