what are the requirements to be a wildland firefighter as in age and what not???

Minimum age to be a student worker with ODF is age 16 but to be a normal wildland firefighter, you need to be 18. You should be in decent physical shape and know how to write your name...that's about it. If you are planning on doing it this summer, get on it! Hirings for many organizations and agencies are closing soon or have already closed.

It's called "The Devil's Own"...I can't remember exactly who it's by but all the bands are listed in the end credits.

That was a long video, may want to take out the running over the cone on the backing up vehicle opperations part, may have wanted to use a backer there... Thats the official recruit video now? may want to make some revisions again...

I agree that the video is long, but it was to the state's specifications and they are the people who paid for it. The part of the video when the young lady backs over the cone is during vehicle training in a cone course. No backers or outside help are allowed.

I was on two fires in Oregon back in '01. We nearly got whacked by a dozer on one of them. We were hiking down into a valley. He was above us sending basketball sized-rocks down on us. We were in full I/A gear with piss pumps and line tools. Man were we running our asses off. Spent 3 weeks at the Burns Interagency Fire Zone. Some of the most fun I've ever had.

the pack test really isn't that hard if your in good shape. I did mine this year in 41 min flat. which with that said the pack test is nothing compared to some of the things you would encounter on an acctuall fire!

im a wildland firefighter well for a month now the training was fun but the pack test is a tough one cant wait to get out on the field and dont forget our irpg and fireline handbook well gtg peace and godbless

pretty slow season wasnt it? just a few good burners.this next year auhto be somethin for the books the way our winter has been.
