My G40 190PS

This is my G40 after its Eaton conversion. Unfortunately the injectors run out of fuel at 6000rpm so I'm waiting for some replacements, and the Aquamist pump had seized over the winter so I also need one of these.
The ignition map had to be retarded to save the chassis, but when I get the new injectors in, I think I want it a lairy as it was before, and will keep an eye on things to see how it goes.

nice motor mate! i am after a golf gti mk2 8v but after this its really got me thinking! what kind of power/mpg can i expect from a stock g40?

From a stock one, 113bhp, but it's really cheap and simple to get a nice healthy 125-130+

MPG is fantastic *IF* you drive for MPG. I think they're quoted as 51mpg at 56mph as standard if I recall.

Mk2 8v Golfs are also awesome cars though. Really grunty and the build quality if you get a well cared for one is astonishing for its era.

are eatons more powerfull than g-laders or yust more reliable?

You can safely and reliably pump more air with an M45 Eaton charger than you can with either G-Lader. Therefore with a good intercooler you can generate more power. Because the chargers are so cheap, and are so reliable, you don't feel as guilty really giving it the beans either.

At the very least it turns heads. Maybe not for the best reason though!

The amount of times I've stuck my foot down going up a hill to see random people in the distance just stop in there tracks and turn around to look. Makes me laugh every time!

What an absolut corker of a car mate! Ive owned a 1.0 MK3 for the last year and a bit and even the sluggishness hasnt stopped me being bitten by the bug! Really looking into getting a G40 next, to any old guy on the street it looks like 'an old polo' but stick youre foot down and jaws hit the floor. I must've watched this video over a hundred times and can't get bored of that eaton whine! Again, flippin' sweet G :D
