  • Assuming you have an excellent tuner and a proper standalone like an AEM EMS or Motec, etc, they'll be equally reliable at a given power level. The tuner is critical. The turbo setup will make the power at lower RPM and make much more torque, which is nice because it will give you that surge you'll be looking for. My vortech never did that. The supercharger makes power in a linear way, but it never hits hard. Check out s2ki.com and look around there for info on this, it's a wealth of info.

  • @Akilldema Well, in terms of return you are right. Could you answer me this? What is a safer power level to run the F20C motor at if the s2000 is a daily driver?Because I just want a fast enough car that is reliable... there's no point of making a lot of power but running into headaches in the future. Reliability wise which kit do you think would be more reliable a turboed kit at 400rwhp or a supecharged kit at 400rwhp?

  • @IkillV8 It's your money. Just telling you that you're not getting anywhere near the most return for the amount invested. For that kind of money I would want a lot more than 400whp, and I doubt you'll make much more than 200ft/lbs of torque. Centrifugal superchargers are inefficient, period. Doesn't matter who makes it. Roots type superchargers like those seen on factory supercharged cars are massively better. I don't see the point in sacrificing power here, while spending more.

  • @Akilldema This kit is actually running the Rotrex supercharger which is the most efficient supercharger on the market. I won't be disappointed b/c if I want to go faster I just drive my bro's car. LOL. I just want a decently fast car and I know with this supercharger setup 400rwhp is attainable.

  • @IkillV8 $5000?! You're gonna wind up having 7k in it after tuning, EMS and injectors. A turbo car with half the money invested will roast it and boost is controlled electronically. Good luck with the build.. I think that money could be spent much more effectively. Centrifugal superchargers are not good at building boost quickly.. I bet you'll be disappointed. That price is insane.

  • @Akilldema I gotcha... I see your point I've decided though to go with the "Kraftwerks YouTune Supercharger kit" I'm getting the AEM Engine Management and then whatever pulley needed to make 350+rwhp reliably and I'm set. I just want a car that can somewhat keep up with my bro's car. And with this power level I think I can manage.

  • @IkillV8 You'll get enough power, but the torque numbers won't be much at all and it will never measure up to a turbo car with similar power. If you're gonna spend the money, do it the best way possible. Turbos are common, if you buy good quality components and have it tuned properly, you should experience no more problems than you would with a supercharger.

  • @Akilldema What I don't like about turboing an S2K is basically all the hardware involved with a turbo kit system. More things can go wrong with a turbo setup in my opinion then a well done up supercharged setup. And I do realize that the gains are more with the turbo setup and it is essentially more efficient to run a turbo setup. I'd be satisfied with just 350rwhp on the S2K. Which, I don't think it's to much to ask. lol

  • @IkillV8 It's got a lot to do with the tuner, he will be the person who can tell you what will be able to be safely made. The boost you'll need will depend on your compression ratio, easy to adjust with varying size head gaskets. I wouldn't recommend any centrifugal style supercharger, you'll make more boost at lower RPM and throughout with a turbo.

  • @Akilldema I have a great tuner from Georgia who will be tuning the vehicle. And as far as an AEM EMS I will definitely get a standalone for the tuning parameters needed after installing the Vortech. Do you also recommend Rotrex Superchargers? And how much boost is needed to make 400rwhp on the F20C and will the motor handle that power reliably?
