A nice day to take the old truck for a drive. Recently installed a NOS gas gauge, and climate control unit. Family owned since 1981, I'm the second owner of this truck, and my Grandfather bought it new. The 305 was replaced with a crate 350 no emissions, and GM Performance serpentine belt kit in 2007. Also new paint this year in the factory original colors, and new original interior except headliner done in 2008. Headliner replaced in 1990 is still good. I'll replace it with the original style perforated vinyl if it sags. Close to original as I can get. 143,684 miles. Not bad for nearly 30 years. Everything works except the windshield washer. I cut the sound way down on the exterior shots because the wind noise was real loud.

  • these were the best trucks when they stopped making them in 1988 that was the end of GM

  • @force311999 It's sure been a good truck. My 04 Silverado has been pretty good so far. Battery, thermostat, intermediate steering shaft, and one transmission cooler line replaced in 8 years of owning it. I don't think it will last as long as the 81 though.
