@invaderscott they sold out after Cliff had died, yes, but only after they hired Bob Rock. Anyway, Cliff was the most open minded guy of em all, so I wouldn't be too sure about them not selling out if he hadn't died... Cliff was the one who was also listening to stuff like R.E.M. In an interview one day before his death he also said that Metallica would become more melodic an calmer, and also mentioned a big producer.
Btw, I know those things because I'm a hardcore fan :-P

@juliocaro90 They sold out after cliff died. Cliff was the one against selling out. After he died they did a greatest hits, had toys made, cut there hair and toned down there music...a hard core fan will admit that.

dont understand ppl on youtube gotta get fucking crazy about wut someone said. i do think they should make a greatest hits album so maybe those ppl who r just getting into metallica in the last ten years or so shouldn't base their feelings on albums like load, reload, anger, and magnetic (all good imo in their own right, just sucks that they had such a reputation to upkeep). when they do, they should rerecord some songs cuz who doesnt like the way this song sounds? they all could be like this
