Police Brutality? Niagara Falls Canada at Free Mark Emery protest (short version)

The FREE MARC EMERY campaign attended Justice Minister Rob Nicholson's office in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Thursday, June 10th. Head organizer and BC Civil Liberties director Jacob Hunter was immediately assaulted and arrested by a Niagara Falls Policeman.

The FREE MARC campaign was at Conservative MP Rob Nicholson's constituency office to stage an "occupation" sit-in protest, similar to dozens that have taken place across Canada. The protests are a response to the extradition and imprisonment of Canadian activist, businessman, and BC Marijuana Party leader Marc Emery.

Marc Emery was extradited to the US for a 5-year federal prison sentence for selling seeds, even though he never left Canada. Vancouver police failed to have him charged here in 2003, then worked with US law enforcement to have
him charged down there in 2005. Rob Nicholson signed the extradition order himself on May 10th, 2010, which is the reason he was targeted by the FREE MARC campaign.

The FREE MARC campaign leaders, Jodie Emery and Jacob Hunter, had done the same in Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office in Calgary on May 19th. Arrests have been attempted by police at almost all occupation/sit-ins, but the Constitutional Right to protest, and the fact that MP offices are public space paid for by public tax dollars, allowed for every occupation to proceed. However, this one was violently stopped before it even began.

Jacob and Eric are required to appear in Niagara Falls court on August 5th for unjustified charges that should be thrown out. Conservative MP office occupations will continue. There is no reason for any protesters to be arrested. The aggressive officer should be punished.

The Justice Minister is a COWARD, afraid of the PUBLIC he is paid by. We are his BOSS. It's wrong to keep his public office doors locked.

SHAME ON THE JUSTICE MINISTER! Rob Nicholson is an arrogant coward!

Im just writing as I watch this but seems to me that just cause you're givin the right to legally smoke pot for medical reasons doesnt mean you have to abuse it by lookig for trouble by doing in front of the cop trying to make a statement. You have cameras and shit in his face so no wonder he got frustrated......what was the outcome of this anyways and who is Mark Emery?

@ericlinebaugh Mark Emery who has never been to the US before is currently serving a 5 year sentence in a US prison for selling seeds to the US via mail order. The office they are visiting in this video is the office of Rob Nicholson who made the unprecedented extradition happen. In this country his sentence would never had been as severe for the crime committed.

if you so much as lay a finger on a police officer it IS considered assault that's how it is been for along time now and that's why he arrested your friend for assault on a police officer ..as a matter of fact one man was charged with first degree murder when he paralysed a police officer from the waist below..but the police officer still lives to this day.. and when an officer says you are not allowed to enter you force yourselves in? and say you have the right..you would be trespassing..

@Softissue27 I fear that until some jack boot thug is standing their throat, they won't understand the tyranny they are enabling. I'm flabbergasted by the amount of people who think this behaviour is acceptable. Sure it could be much worse. If you allow a little you'll accept a lot. Of course if you give the government a centimeter they will rob a county. What is the point of having a charter of rights and freedoms when those protected by it seem to reject it! It's really sad to me.

@MrXstacey Well whatever the case, the US legal system is different than ours so that should have come as common sense. People abuse the system too much which is why our judicial system has so many flaws and holes. You abuse the privledge of being a medicinal pot smoker just to try and prove a point. These people in this video deserved everything they got. You want to protest? There are far more appropriate ways in doing so rather than making yourselves look like asses in public!

@thyroidman808 let me take it further, Not only do I "think" Mark's rights have been violated, do you know what unprecedented means? It means never happened before. "You're totally off the wall if you think you had the right to march in there" You should have the right to enter any space your tax dollars pay for. "especially after the cops arrive"? who called them? public servants? or "officials"?. Just cuz Rob Nicholson "thinks" he can invent new rules overturning our rights?

Are you really saying that we as slaves of the system are not to be granted the right to speak to our slavemasters? to question their authority? and when they go outside the rules of the country in an unprecedented manner that we should accept what they do because they are the law?
