On my website at http://supergroup.netfirms.com I have 2 Supergroups made up of UK and USA artist and musicians. Which Supergroup would make a better album (for charity) - you vote. Can you imagine the UK Supergroup with: Paul McCartney (bass), Eric Clapton (lead guitar), Pete Townshend (rhythm guitar), Phil Collins (drums), Steve Winwood (keys), and Elton John (piano) or the USA Supergroup with: Bruce Springsteen (guitar), Eddie Van Halen (lead guitar), Dave Grohl (drums), Flea (bass), Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar), Stevie Wonder (keys).

  • ok seriously people, if u are gonna comment on this...please realize that eddie van halen is not even from either america of britain, hes from the netherlands...so he cannot be considered in this discussion

  • Just like in the Olympics - if someone is a citizen of a country - then he can represent that country. Eddie has been a citizen of the US for a long time.

  • if im not mistaken, eddie makes his home in the netherlands...just saying

  • No, actually he lives in Malibu, CA ... virtualglobetrotting com/map/eddie-van-halens-house

  • Odd selection for the most part for both countries. How could you leave out the Stones and Zeppelin but include Genesis and Elton John? and for the USA, how could you leave out Hendrix and Janis Joplin and the Doors?

  • Go to the Supergroup website and you'll see the 2nd Supergroup Battle of the Bands with: UK (Sting, Page, Richards, Mullen, Martin, Gabriel) vs. USA ( Mellencamp, Santana, Simon, Henley, Joel, Crow) Remember, this is for a TV show - so only living musicians.

  • this is so retarded its unreal. If you guys are actually brain washed and stupid enough to believe that american bands even compare to UK bands, then I feel sorry for you.

  • actually, he was jack sparroks father in the movie...but nice try

  • i actually think the english one would be better cause they are all musicians of similar style...the american people are all completely different musicaians...i say dave grohl on rythym guitar, tom hamilton of bass, john frusciante of lead guitar, billie joe for vocals and taylor hawkins on drums....and besides...eddie can halen isnt even american...hes from the netherlands

  • Obviously the USA, GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  • in the "English" corner:

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Dire Straits, The Cure, David Bowie, Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse.

    vs

    in the "American" corner:

The Doors, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M, Guns 'N' Roses, The Killers, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Kings of Leon, Nirvana.

That is very tight! but i think that for sheer quality and the greater volume of quality bands and songs, England takes the prize!!!! America has some great bands though!

    peace :D

  • Supergroup battle of the bands wouldn't be fair: marquee American Rockstars seem so much more likely TO BE DEAD than their British counterparts. aka Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, ect..

Yes John Lennon is dead too but KILLED in AMERICA after getting his American citizenship.

Ofcourse the English have their walking zombie Keith Richards, electric guitar playing son of Jack Sparrow...
