I am 100% Russian, born in St. Petersburg, and I speak the language fluently. It is absolutely Russian, because I recognize every single word and understand it's meaning. I don't speak a word of Croatian. They're not even really similar languages (polish and ukrainian are closer to russian).

you're sure that ALL lyrics in the song are russian ? because for example the sentence "a pro pravde ja bil prosto malenkij medvedik" (or something like this), from the research i did seemed to be croat ... and i'm pretty sure i tried to see if it was russian and it didn't work ... (but this was based on auto translation)

Eugene is Ukrainian, the lyrics not in english are Russian. Pretty simple to figure out lol. The stuff that he says is TOTAL randomness though, i love it. It's something like "they were always afraid that I've sold out the motherland, but in reality i was just a little bear, got on a bike and fucked everything to hell".
