Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue saw The General on the Senate floor and called him to his office. The Governor was treated to a performance of The Generals Pants on the Ground song. The two are said to have danced in the Governors office.

In 1963 General Platt helped organize student demonstrations against segregation in the South. During the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama; Platt was severely beaten. In 2001 the Georgia Legislature passed House Resolution 286. HR-286 proclaimed that September 4, 2001 is "Larry Platt Day" in the City of Atlanta for his priceless and immeasurable contributions to society.

Americas newest internet sensation General Larry Platt was honored on Wednesday by the Georgia Senate. General Platt soared to fame when he auditioned before the American Idol judges. His original song Pants on the Ground even impressed Idol judge Simon Cowell. Lawmakers honored Platt Wednesday for his contributions during the civil rights movement and his latest achievements.
