I love this video! thanks! it's like a virtual tour of Rosehall! but my o my she was a evil woman...i said to myself dang a 4 feet something inches tall woman killed all 3 husbands? she must be the devil's child lol

@imacceptingbut They took it because it was supported by all of the society around them. Ever heard the expression "no place to run"? No doubt more than one slave owner was poisoned by the people he presumed to own, but the retribution for it was pretty heavy. Anyone whose ancestors came through slavery with their mid an spirit in tact, has a lot to be proud of in those ancestors. It took a lot of intlligent and strength of character to survive slavery.

Don't underestimate them. History has shown us that there have been many slave uprisings. Though many were unsuccessful, there were few that were overwhelming and was a statement to all that they should be afraid for they could rise up.

Dude, what if a family of three (Master, Missus, and Overseer) tried to enslave you and yours anytime soon? Would you and your family of five or six just stand around waiting for the next command?
I can't BELIEVE people just TOOK this bullshit! And some plantations had 300/400 people vs. the tiny "master" family unit and a couple of hillbilly overseer's. Me, I woulda plotted and planned for a long, long, long time....until I came up with the perfect escape idea.

I think maybe she was saying that some Jamaican blacks has mix ancestry (who ancestors married Arawak Indians).
-
Not sure I have seen the woman who has recorded this video she may be of native indian descent; however I'm 100% sure the Arawak Indians are not the ancestors of black west indians. "Black" west indian ancestry is in Africa. Blacks arrived to the Caribbean enslaved. I myself am Haitian and my ancestry is not that of the indigenious Taino Indians that were natives to Hispaniola (Haiti/DR). My ancestry is of West Africa where most of the enslaveds arrived to the "Greater Antilles."
