During the press conference Armstrong sat flanked by two of his closest friends in the peloton — Hincapie, his longtime teammate at Motorola, U.S. Postal Service and Discovery Channel and Leipheimer, his current Astana teammate.

Armstrong was questioned on a variety of topics, including his decision to return to racing and his terminated independent anti-doping program with Don Catlin.

However the line of questioning — and answering — became most terse when Irish journalist Paul Kimmage, who called Armstrong the cancer of the peloton in a radio interview last year, asked Armstrong how he could compare the return to racing of suspended rider Scot David Millar to those of Floyd Landis and Ivan Basso.

There is one obvious difference between them, said Kimmage. (Landis and Basso) admitted to nothing.

Armstrong first replied by saying that he found Kimmages comments insulting, not only to himself, but to the entire cancer community.

  • It's not only De Ceaurriz who said so, for exemple Australian Ashenden has confirmed the validity of the LNDD testing on 1999 TDFsamples including Lance's.

Last year, after reviewing Lance's blood values, the best world antidoping specialists like Ashenden, Morkebjerg, Belhague, Dine, Parisotto said that something was very anormal within Lance's blood values, something that could only be explained by a serious illness. What should you conclude?

  • Paul Kimmage should ask that question again...Perhaps we'd get a less sanctimonious response this time around.....

  • @prittyboy01 its rough ride

  • @sharpendintothedark Maybe Paul shouldn't have used the language he did but I'm Irish and proud of Paul as he's got more bottle than 99% of the peleton for speaking the truth even when it's going to make him a figure of hate by people who know little about what really happens inside the peleton. LA 's

  • Oh Lance pretending that he doesn't know who Paul Kimmage is. I've read Lance's book which is pretty inspiring, but I've read Rough Ride and who do I really believe?

  • If you read Paul's book (Blood sport) you will see lance in a whole new light, let me tell you, it is all nevative. as for lance's argument mentioning cancer, he was the one who bought up the topic. what paul said about cance was only a small fraction in his book which in context makes sence. Blood sport is a very good read, it is honest and factual just like Paul kimmage

  • I love the little dainty nods from Hincapie............and knowing what he knew, it only a matter of time before the truth will come out.fair play to kimmage for asking him real questions............

  • tough to watch his self righteousness with recent Hamilton/Hincape revelations.

  • Lance Doping-strong

  • Google: Lance Armstrong gebruikte doping. Most of it's in English. Paul Kimmage, the reporter here, is featured in it.

  • I'll bet Lance has looked at the footage of Marion Jones crying in public while admitting to using performance enhancers and brokenly saying "I have betrayed your trust" and thought to himself: "Hell, man, I don't want to go through that."

So he gets on his cancer soapbox and pulls the suckers in.

  • @McCormickAnimation He just got on the cancer soapbox and you and a lot of other naivetes fell for it. He is a cheat. I'm glad he didn't die of cancer and yes he is doing some good in assisting research, but you fall for the face he puts on to hide the fact that he DID cheat.
