  • Her ability to produce approximately 14,000 vibrations per second with her vocal cords, her unparalleled vocal strength (no commercial microphone utilized for singing could withstand its strength, forcing her to stand at a 1- to 3-meter radius away from one

wow wow she was a legend

  • I am Chaldean. My mother and father came to Australia from Iraq, and they played this tune all the time. As a small child, and in my early 20's in Australia, I never appreciated this music up until my early 30's, because I knew no better. She is most impressive indeed. Now, I realise what I have missed. I salute "The Star of The East".

  • all this while, ive been listening to Sherine and Nacy Ajram's songs...never heard of Umm kulthum till one day I saw an article about her in Malaysia's newspaper... now i know why she is still the most unforgettable legend...her voice is so powerful and so magical... she is not singing but SERENADING instead...i love the lyrics of this song, so touching...will never stop listening to this...it will be my lifetime wasted..lolz..regard from malaysia...

  • Respect from Pakistan..........

  • @monme89 That sounds pretty much like a legend, because microphones (even ancient ribbon mics) can withstand up to 110-120dB, that is, 1/8 of the sound level a jumbo jet would produce. If Umm Kulthum had been able to do that, she would have become almost deaf herself. :)

  • I am Greek and I love Arab Culture so much, especially Arab music. Oum Kulthum is thwe best for ever!!!!!!

  • @Kizozi Dont forget Turkey. We love her too.

  • הי,
