It was more common years ago to take the baby immediately without allowing the mother to hold it. There have been cases where the mother didn't even see the baby for hours and hours. I think that's changed these days for the most part, but I still wouldn't have a baby in a hospital because they still treat birth as a medical procedure, not a natural occurrance.

It looks like they are students, the mother more than likely gave them the "Ok" to catch her baby... Everyone has to have a first time! Give them a break. I let a resident break my bag of waters.

Geez, how many people does it take to clean the baby off? There are way too many people in there! That's awful that they didn't let the mother see and hold her child.

I agree with the comment regarding giving the baby to the mother... if you have any more children don't go back to that hospital. How you were even able to make it to delivery with that many people in the room amazes me...that kind of invasive environment stalls labour and often ends in c-section. I don't understand why they didn't hand the mother the baby right away!! You lose precious bonding moments...
