Doing all of this helps decease the size if the infected area, helps make sure it doesn't spread throughout your system, and since the infected area will be smaller, it will help the medication do it's job.

g until there's no more puss or tainted blood running, yes, you can take mini breaks in between cuz it hurts, but don't stop overall until there's no more puss or tainted blood, also make sure there's no blood clots (the black chunks) blocking the opening. Also, gloves, yeah washing your hands is okay, but if you have any little cuts on them or your fingers, you could get those infected....
Also, Drown that infection with Hydrogen Peroxide.

I feel for you man. I had that damn thing on me twice. Once on my knee and then again like a year later on my upper lip. I never got it drained out at the doctor because my nana was a doctors assistant, so she taught me how to take care of it.
