Personally, I think that's how it started out, then as the movies were released, the characters grew up and it ended up being a story which would fit everyone (in my opinion).

I would say Harry Potter has fit me all the way because I grew up with it.

Aside from that, there are lots of people in all ages who are interested in magical fantasy adventures like HP and Lord of the Rings. I like them both. If I had to choose I would go for HP. That's my choice. Your choice is your choice

You can't compare LOTR and HP, There two different books. Yet in my opinion nothing will be better than LOTR, they are my favourite movies and books. Nothing will replace them, Ever.

Considering that the author of HP was not considered an academic and developed the idea apparently when she in financial difficulty, one can only commend her efforts, considering she is worth half a billion pounds, all with imagination pen and paper. I have to express my admiration for it, but in terms of depth and in terms of it's well executed academic and professional style, Tolkien achieved his dream of a creating an English mythology all on his own, LOTR is superior on all levels.

@dianagnzlz Harry Potter is not for kids. People of every age are reading Harry Potter AND Lord of the Rings. Both books are amazing in their own way.

I personally don't see what is the point of degrading Harry Potter...both are great novels and movies in my opinion. Although LOTR of course is a lot more classic and better than Harry Potter. I like both of them. However, I don't really like HP movies. (I only like HP 1&2 Movies)

@xXZarlachXx HarryPotter was made by a dubious writer, on the other hand JRR Tolkien had more talents and lived a more classic era. Another point is that LOTR clenses you after the end, while HP is like a videogame or like a Brazilian TV series with heavy use of ghosts e.t.c. (more like a thriller)
