The Asiatic lion population has gone beyond its environmental carry capacity in the Gir National Park, so it is being reintroduced into Kuno-Palpur Wildlife Sanctuary. There is ongoing negotiations between India and Iran over the reintroduction of Asiatic lions into Iran. So there is hope for the Asiatic lion in India, and hopefully it will expand to other places on the Asian continent.
