I was going 67 mph in what had been temporarily changed to a 55 mph zone on Arizona 101 Highway. For anyone who wants to know what it looks like to see the camera, here you go.

Btw, the camera tickets in AZ are now considered to be like a parking ticket, and therefore the ticket goes with the car. This means that you don't have to actually be served by a processor server for the ticket to "count". Which is why it says on the ticket, "No court appearance is required and poin ts will not be assessed to your driving record. This Notice of Violation is not subject to dismissal due to defensive driving school attendance."

Instead, the ticket now travels along with the car, which means that if you have too many "parking tickets", the car can be impounded.

This info came from a friend of mine in January of 2008. He's a civil prosecutor for the city of Scottsdale, Arizona.

  • Whats the deal with the Speeding Camera tickets is AZ? Last week when I was there I asked an AZ native and they said you can travel 9 mph faster.. Is that true?

And what do you mean that the ticket is like a "parking violation"? does that mean that you do not receive points?

  • On the highway, it's 11 over. On surface streets, it's 7 over. At least that's what I've always heard.

And yeah, the ticket itself says "There will not be any points added to your license." So similar to a parking ticket, the citation is connected to your car, not your drivers license. I think this was done so they don't have to worry about serving the ticket to anyone, just like a parking ticket.

  • Good point zackkil. I'll try and remember that next time.

  • @Pzykowulf i'll never get caught, thought that was clear. Do you hate people who don't have medical insurance also? What about those who suffered during the recession and couldnt make their morgage? Do you hate them, cause thats lawlessness. I think your just a little girl with nothing better to do.

  • @JBLiff77 It bothers me because I despise lawlessness. I'm not a people hater by any means, but when you break the law and get caught then you deserve what you get, and the only means of stopping this is by stop breaking the law. Go ahead and do as you please, but it'll just put a smile on my face when you get caught. It'll take one more law-breaker off the road. I'm not a cop, just a citizen tired of seeing lawless people get their way.

  • @Pzykowulf thats not even close to what I had suggested. also, i was wondering why it bothers you so much that people speed. are you a cop?

these cameras suck. If I ever see one, i will destroy it. I will never stop speeding. plus, i live in Florida, a state that doesn't absolutely suck.

  • @laxer20032 Then go 55.

  • @TheCwmpro 1.) Know who you're trusting your car to before you lend it out, and 2.) Don't exceed the speed limit by any mph and you won't receive a ticket. How easy is that?

  • @JBLiff77 Apparently they're doing their job if they're catching people speeding. Posts like these are evidence of that.

  • @SXTTURBO That's why you don't break the law :) Just obey the posted speed limit and you won't get in trouble, see how easy it is?

  • @zackkil I do understand if he was caught going 65 in the 55 because of an old speed limit, but like he said he was going 67 in what he thought was a 65, so yeah, he's still speeding. Just do everyone a favor and stop breaking laws.

  • @EditWeapon You really shouldn't travel anything over. If the speed limit is posted at a certain mph, then you're breaking the law by exceeding it either way. I really don't think there should be any lee-way for people to go faster, but that's just me. The law's the law, stop trying to break it.

  • Even if the speed limit was 65, you're still speeding by going 67, because 67 is a greater speed than 65 even if by a couple of mph. You can't really complain if you're breaking the law.
