The loaded glove rumour was proved false years ago. In 1964 sports illustrated did an article on it. They made these plaster wraps and got Cleveland Williams to hit the bag. The plaster was immedietly cracked and crumbled. It would do more damage to the wearers hands. Also Teddy Hayes (another Dempsey second) cut the wraps after the fight and had no problems doing so. There are also clear photos of Dempsey's wrapped hands before the fight. Do some research.

@cuntyballs07 Yes I have researched it in the past and it's a strong possibility. There was an interview with a 70 year old Willard with Harry Carpenter. Willard went over to a cupboard and produced a box, inside of which was an iron bolt that he said one of his corner men picked up after the fight. Nothing is for certain though as some say the photo just shows a cigar that Jimmy Deforest drops after the debarkle following round 1.

broken cheekbone,multiple broken ribs,multiple teeth knocked out,and cracked skull.nobody ever suffered injuries like that in a gloved match....and Dempsey never came close to doing that kind of damage to anybody again.

there are photos showing the iron on the canvas after the 1st round(when all the damage was really done). its a great untold story,check it out.

Look at the Willard - Johnson fight 4 years before. Willard's body is rock hard. But here he looks a little ou of shape, probably he didn't train enough.

Dempsey still has the record for the most 1st round KO's !! Willard should never have came out for the second round. In part, this is a testament to his toughness. No fighter would continue today after such a beating. This is PRIME Dempsey. Best PFP heavyweight ever !!!
