http://thebeanmedia.blogspot.com/ On Monday, August 2, 2010, The City Council of Cambridge, MA unanimously passed a resolution in support of a proposed piece of federal legislation known as the DREAM Act, which would provide a pathway to U.S. citizenship for illegal immigrant students, if those students graduate from college or a trade school or join the military. The 9-0 vote was symbolic, as the The City Council doesn't have the legislative authority to make the DREAM Act a law (that will have to be done by Congress and the President), but it was a local show of support for the sentiment behind the proposed federal legislation. Before the Council voted on the resolution, it heard public comments. In this clip, Donna Barry (a Cambridge resident, and co-founding member of Cambridge-Somerville for Change), addresses the Council.
