This song really sums up the spirit of the early 90s, when the UK was heading into a recession: the anti-materialistic subculture that arose to be happy despite the misery and pessimism that was spreading through the country, finding happiness in a sense of common purpose and unity.

However, fast forward wind a few years and this song was forever ruined by the very epitome of banal commercial insipidity: Baby Spice!

The song was therefore ruined and I love this reclaiming and reinterpretation!

zoe, you`re good, maybe better than you realise these days, you don`t need sandy denny wannabe elbowing you over, shoe-horning her generic sound over you, you walk tall girl cos it was you that created and sang an iconic song that will endure.....i still believe you`ve got it, you just need to remember where you put it x
