It would be really awesome if everything was done over IP. You would pay less per month and your battery would last longer. And phone hardware and software could be a tiny tad simpler.

Google has becoming a mirror image of Microsoft back in then, keep releasing half baked software. Unfortunately, there always be bunch of dumb-asses help hypes up the look-like fully functional but actually semi completed task, instead of criticize it encourage Google's Android team on the right track. No wonder many folks quietly migrant back to iPhone even dislike how Steve;s operate policies.

To clarify: In the US (may be different in other countries), you can only place internet calls when connected via WiFi (as briefly mentioned on sec. 11). When you are in G3 you get the following message "You must be connected to a WiFi Network to make internet calls". Now, that bites!

if my SIP credentials with my provider have Auth Username as a required field, will this still work ( ie register, make calls, transfer even) ? I'm not seeing any mention of Auth Username in the Android developers reference

Nexus One will get it soon but this is the "new Nexus One" and will probably be the first one to get updates now. I'm sure they wanted this to be the only one to have 2.3 for a little while so they could say the first phone with Gingerbread. Can't wait till I get the update.

    SICK!

I can't wait till more phones are upgraded to Gingerbread. I'm surprised that the Nexus One hasn't been given it yet when that phone is usually the 1st one to get the updates out of all of them!
