  • people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20077404,00.htm September 15, 1980. Split from Their Spouses, Jim Ed Brown & Helen Cornelius Sing of Guilt with New Passion

  • Interesting article about it: His wife, who first filed for divorce in February 1979, withdrew the suit the month of the declared dissolution of the Brown-Cornelius duo, only to reinstate her legal action this year. ("Becky had become very vindictive toward Helen," one associate says. "She pledged Helen would be sent back to Missouri with her tail tucked between her legs.") at people.com.

  • @AnneBurbach I agree, and even tho I know this is bad for me to say, I was sorta hoping Jim Ed and Helen would get married. I don't condone cheating, but sometimes the fire just burns out in a marriage. I see no reason for 2 people to stay together, be miserable for the rest of their lives, when their hearts belong to someone else. We only pass this way but ONCE, so be happy while we're here, right? :)

  • @fiddlestix2006 who could blame them .. when you sing love songs to each other, the heart has to be stirred and emotions are hard to control. They were the best, such chemistry!

  • @JasonEmery9 Yes, they had a big time romance. Broke up her marriage, JEB's wife left him, but then went back to him later. Jim and Helen are back touring again, and I don't understand his wife allowing it? Because they were madly in love in the 70's, and I can still see a spark in their eyes today. Unless his wife is touring WITH him, I bet they're at it again. :):)

  • Are you kiddin' me, lol? There was about a 2 or 3 stretch in the late 70's when Jim Ed and Helen ruled the country airwaves. Seemed to end rather abrubtly, unfortunately.

Were they an item, or just singing partners?

  • Jim Ed And Helen r very good singers I thing this is probably my favorite song out of all of there songs that they did together in the 70's

  • There's nobody better than these two!!! I say Judge Not Lest you Be Judged!!

  • Good music.

  • I remember that too.....but how can you help it....when you have such great music and chemistry together....
