I am just passing along this simple video of a Marine showing different training techniques for pullups. For a perfect 300 score on the USMC officers PFT, 20 consecutive pullups are the requirement! http://usmcocs.wordpress.com/ has some great information for anyone looking at the Marines OCS or PLC, including physical fitness, recruiting process tips, and more.

  • Any tips for getting better at pullups. Thats what I struggle with the most. Right now I can only do about 4

  • @mattman90 Sure check out all the tips on my site. I recommend a tough training program like Armstrong and to eventually switch to weighted pull ups.

  • I believe minimum requirements differ for officers and enlisted. I know to get into OCS you probably wont' make it without a good 12-15 nowadays with how competitive it is.

  • @MarineOCSBlog I can only do 20 dead hang...You think I woulf be able to go to Marine Special Operations command?

  • @mattman90 just keep at it. you will get stronger. eat healthy food aswell. what u kan do when u get tired and stop at 4 pullups, just jump up with ur legs, and try to hold as long as u can and then slowly pull urself down. do this 3 or 4 times. then take a break and do total of 3 sets.

  • mattman90 how about just keep on doing them?

  • I'm 13, weigh 203lbs of solid, drug free strength and I can do over 80 pull ups in a row from DEAD HANG, no KIPPING, perfect form. :P

    Check me out!

  • @Assassinator12334 ICAN DO MORE AND DONT PRACTICE RLTW!!!

  • @Lee355 bitch i bet that marine can do more than u in 100 seconds easily

  • @08302010 try practicing with negative pull-ups. get a chair and use it to get your chin over the bar, then lower yourself as slow as you possibly can(try counting to 5 as you come down). when you come to a dead hang, go back up and repeat the same thing

  • tips for flex arm hang anyone?

  • @MarineOCSBlog You are right, I'm trying to get my pilot spot right now and you want the 15 at least
