Here's the old drill press, it was once a line shaft drill press and has been heavily modified over the years. It has been in my family for at least 40 years or more. It still does the job in the shop. Now days it's hard to buy a good machine that will last that long.

  • @legendhunter47 It's made by Superior Machine Co., not sure of the year but it dates back to when line shafts were used. The original flat belt pulleys were removed and V belt pulleys installed. The reason my belts are shorter is because the power unit stands about 3 ft off the floor.

  • @andrewsengineering whats the make, model and year of your machine here, i notice the belts are shorter than the other drill presses shown on you tube

  • @legendhunter47 It was a piece of 2x3 CR steel, we were drilling ports to be tapped for a hydraulic manifold. The drill has a 2HP motor, the belts are lightly tensioned so they slip of something catches otherwise it has the power to break large drill bits or make a mess of things...

  • what thickness of metal was you drilling? and whats the HP on this sweet old beauty
