Lance Cpl. Lucas C. Scott, 20, of Peebles, Ohio, died Dec. 3, as a result of a hostile incident while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Scott was an infantry mortarman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 1, I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward. He joined the Marine Corps in June 2009 and was promoted to lance corporal March 1, 2010.
He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in June 2010.
His awards include the Marine National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the NATO Medal -- ISAF Afghanistan.
