During our trip to Tahiti in July 2001, we were blessed to be able to watch Heikura Nui practice their Heiva presentation. I idolized this group during my days as a dancer because their drumming was out of this world. Their CD Te Tavevo L'Echo was on heavy rotation in my stereo. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip.
Listen at about 1:32 when the pahu player turns it up and just goes off!!!

@ocopedo nice to meet you too. I don't know them personally and for sure they probably would not remember me, but I had the chance to meet both Wilfrid and Faimano after their practice in 2001 and was able to take pictures with them.
I was a student of Ioane Joel Burns here in the United States. He's since moved back to Tahiti and I believe he's now working with Makau Foster last I heard from other dancers in our group. Best time of my life!
