August 8, 2008 Hand guided my Celestron C10-NGT and captured this movie of the ISS over Carl's back yard. 2x Barlow, Philips ToUcam840K webcam 15fps 1/1000. Registax41 aligned and generated movie. Windows Movie Maker added text and slowed playback speed. Jimmy Andrews West Point, Mississippi 33.6N 88.6W

  • very cool ! please allow me to ask a stupid question. how did you know where the iss was ganna be ?

  • @DASJOTUNHEIM666

    Do a Google search

Type in Where is the ISS

Lots of web pages show the ISS location

Join the Yahoo SatelliteTracker group and download their free software for XP.

  • I have this same scope and the spc900nc. How did you hand guide it on the equatorial mount? Just trying to track a jet with it is really hard to keep it in the eyepiece. Any tricks you could share.

  • I placed my Telrad finder sight as far back as possible close to primary mirror end and guided from the back. May be better leverage from back. Still lots of stick and slip. The ISS was bouncing all over the screen. I have a procedure in the files section of Yahoo SatelliteTracker group that shows how I centered the ISS. It may be outdated since Registax5 was released. Registax5 has a new gravity option that may aid hand guiders.

If you can track jets, you can track the ISS.

  • very gooooooood! man!

  • @DASJOTUNHEIM666 You can also see the ISS with naked eye. Of course like a bright star that's moving! You'll know it's not a plane because it doesn't flashes green and red.

  • Very appropriate music ))

  • It's obviously a weather balloon..

  • @cmsahe thanx . i have recently found a plugin for stellarium that tracks a ton of satellites.

  • @DASJOTUNHEIM666 or follow @twisst54 on twitter, in your profile indicate your location: i.d. San Francisco USA
