In 2007, Amma gave Her blessings and grace, to purchase a 20 acre plot of land and buildings in the region of Halton Hills (near Mississauga) for setting up the Canadian centre for Amma's humanitarian work. Your support and donations has helped us provide and reach out to the community within the regions of Peel, Mississauga and Toronto and the video you are about to see will illustrate how You have been a vital part in reaching out to our community and the work we have been able to do from our Canadian Centre.
In order to reach out and to work towards Ammas vision, we categorized our activities into 3 main groups Humanitarian, Environmental and Spiritual
In this past year, the Foundation was able to participate in several outreach activities and provided assistance to the community. We were able to take a large group of children from the St.Felix Centre on a trip to Niagara Falls. These children face a lot of challenges in their personal lives and a large majority of them had never been on a trip. Our volunteers spent an entire day, showing them the falls and treating the children to a pizza meal. At the end of the day, the children returned to their homes with a loot bag containing snacks, colour pencils to name a few and a lasting smile on their faces. We continue to visit the St.Felix Centre and cook for the children on a regular basis where our volunteers prepare lunch and serve the 'children at risk' who come to the centre for mentoring by volunteers from the Medical College
The Georgetown Bread Basket is also another recipient of our services. Since early September, we have been serving their clients vegetarian chili and bread rolls. They have asked that we do this on a regular basis and to-date, the foundation has served over eighty 'clients' of the food bank each time approximately 4 times.
Some of our volunteers have also repaired old computers so that children from poor homes can reuse these refurbished electrical goods. This service has allowed the children to get ahead with their studies and feel equipped like other children in their school environment
In the coming months, we are also looking into extending our services to providing assistance in long term care around the Georgetown and Peel areas.
Under the environmental umbrella, we have embarked on organic farming and bee keeping. In October 2005, the members of the Toronto group adopted the New Castle Park in Brampton and volunteers have been continuously cleaning the park and helping with the maintenance. In addition to this activity, our volunteers have been participating in planting trees at the Glen Rouge Camp Ground (Scarborough), Osprey Marsh (Mississauga), and Fleetwood Park (Mississauga). Our youth also have volunteered their time and efforts in participating in the TD Shoreline clean up recently. If your children are interested in participating in our youth programs, please feel free to contact the centre for more information
To fulfill spiritual needs, we hold a congregation every Saturday and we also have experienced IAM mediation instructors who provide mediation classes to anyone who would like to learn the technique free of charge. Volunteers from the Toronto group also provide meditation training for the inmates at Maplehurst and Vanier correctional facilities. Some of the volunteers also participate in a program to visit the facility in order to spend time with the inmates. Others participate in a program called Circle of Love where letters of encouragement and comfort are sent to incarcerated people, care givers, people suffering from illness or anyone who needs to hear kind words.
It is only with your continued generosity can we at the foundation reach out and help the community. We hope you enjoy this short presentation and we look forward to your continued support.
Please contact us at http://www.ammacanada.ca/toronto/ for more information or if you would like to get involved.

@dogboardguru I understand what you are saying, but these children are "children at risk" and have never had the privilidge to go on an outing and have fun eating pizza and drinking coke.....for just one day, they had the opportunity to forget all their problems and be like other children. AFC is the first organization to take them out like this. :) Jai Ma!
