  • Though Caballe as a rather statuesque actress, she sings better than she acts, but this Scene is really extraordinary. Two tudor queens in flesh and blood!Even little gestures and facial expression (esp. Caballe!) say more than words....extraordinary!

  • i LOVE that caballe just stands there with her hands in front of her after she does the "figlia impura." it cracks me up. shes so fabulous. caballe is an OPERA GODDESS.

berini is fantastic hear! both women give such emotion and what acting here by both!

  • Tanto la Sra. Caballé como la Sra. Berini interpretan sus respectivos roles magníficamente.

  • Figlia impura di Bolena,

    Parli tu di disonore?

    Meretrice indegna, oscena,

In te cada il mio rossore.

    Profanato è il soglio inglese,

    Vil bastarda dal tuo piè.

  • Fantastic, fantastic! Caballe really lets fly here, actually singing all the words and adding the necessary bite in her attack. An added high D (a note she had) would have made it perfect. Bianca Berini is really outstanding, the whip, the ageing caked face, the contempt she shows, wow superlatives fail me. Only the Gencer/Verrett Florence 1967 can possible compare or surpass this dramatic intensity. Doesn this exist on DVD? Please?

  • @iAMturandot I don't agree; she is a royal, and she believes herself to be the rightful heiress to the throne of England. She has regal bearing, and carries herself that way- except for the moment when she loses it, and furiously attacks Elizabeth- Impure daughter of Boleyn!~ Ann Boleyn's bastard daughter, illegitimate child and illegitimate ruler.

  • The catholics get the last word... it's Italian.

  • EVEN BETTER

  • This is just super.
