It's okay. Everything is fine. You go ahead and watch your celebrity gossip, your reality TV, your game shows, your soap operas. We, the government and corporations will take care of everything. We are your friends. And you don't double-cross your friends, do you? Just don't complain. Don't object. Don't make a fuss. Or people might think you're weird.
Follow the herd. Buy. Consume. Obey.
And do it all over again the next day.
We'll take care of you from the day you're born to the day you die.
And all we ask is for you to conform and comply.
If you break from the pack and disobey,
We'll have to send the police your way.
Our media wouldn't lie to you.
We know what's good for big business is good for you too.
Don't get any silly ideas in your head,
That our lovingly crafted circuses and bread
Are just a distraction from reality
And that we live off massive inequality.
Some dissenters want you to believe
That all of you have been deceived.
They're just radical terrorists, brutish thugs,
Dark violent militants, probably high on drugs.
Are you okay? You seem ill and grim.
Just try our factory farm fast food and Ritalin.
You will forget all that you've heard,
any dissenting opinion, any ill-speaking word.
So obey, conform, consume, and buy,
And just keep doing that till the day you die.
Is this a parody of conspiracy theorists?

@ChaosMew161 I don't believe in conspiracy theories like some kooky NWO thing, but there is often a close relationship between government and corporations from corn and oil subsidies to all the campaign financing that comes from Wall Street.
Also the whole idea of promoting conformity and stuff like that.

If this really was 1984, you realise you wouldn't even be able to say you were in 1984?
The very creation of the internet breaks Orwellian predictions and theories

@SavageBroadcast I was just thinking of 1984 as a shorthand for totalitarianism.
