in the italian version the name is bedinski so maybe polish or something like that

@vitweb So...we are dying to know...what nationality was portrayed in the Italian version? Was he American? British? Spanish? French? What was his name? :)
(I'm sure they didn't go on location for Astaire-Rogers movies. They exist in a fantasy world. The real world in the Depression was too depressing, especially considering the fact that Europe only had 20 years between world wars, and locations would just add to the cost of film making.)

in the italian version he is not italian in the original '30 ....maybe they don't the stereotype of italian in those year....i'm italian by the way ...and this is not venice for real

Definitely my favourite Astaire movie with Flying down to Rio a close second. Really funny.
