@vyre43 The fact that I appeared to be a fan of Beckett but was apparently unaware that he's been dead for a quarter of a century should have been a pretty big clue. Have a little faith in people.
@billythehick Fluke of performance? If you look at interviews with the actress, she explains how Beckett (as he also directed his plays) made absolute sure she did everything perfectly-- even if she pronounced a word slightly differently, he would make sure she did it until she got it right. I'd link you but I can't actually find the link... I was in a lecture at the time when I saw it.
I do like Beckett a lot, but this is a prime example of how his writing would've been far better suited to art cinema than art theatre. Not only is it a lot easier to appraise the work as a piece of cinema than as a piece of theatre (in theatre it's unclear how much of it was planned and how much was a fluke of the performance, in cinema it very much is a definite thing).
haha my dad filmed this! wtffffff

@billythehick Why do I feel like what started as a discussion has turned into a personal attack?
It was a misunderstanding, ok? Chill.
Besides, how was I to know? You do meet some crazies online.

@billythehick I can think of many ways. You should probably take note that sarcasm doesn't travel well across text.

I'm really not sure how much more obvious I could have made it that I was joking.

@billythehick
...did you really just say that? o.o -speechless-
(You know he died in 1989, right?)

@vyre43 Yeah, but Beckett hasn't directed a play for a while now, I'm starting to lose hope he ever will.
