Atlantis Hotel Aquarium

Amazing aquarium! The one in La Rochelle in France is small comparing to this one.

''A four-metre-long whale shark that was spotted by a local fisherman off the coast of Jebel Ali - United Arab Emirates, has been captured and moved to an aquarium at the new Atlantis hotel on the Palm Jumeirah.The hotel said the shark was clearly under duress when it was sighted and its team of biologists and veterinarians made the decision to move it to the 11-million-litre lagoon for medical care and observation, due to the high temperature and salinity of the water it was in. A representative of the hotel said she was unable to say when the whale shark would be returned to the wild. The spokesperson, who said that the protected species was rescued on August 28, added: Staff at Atlantis are monitoring her. They cant speculate when she will be released.

for those of you that didnt read the more info section....the whale shark is going to be released. it was captured and put in the aquarium because it was found in poor condition due to the temp and salinity of the water it was in. I also cant wait for the day it is released.

Atlantis hotel replace dead sharks weekly because the living conditions in the aquarium are insufficient. The sharks need to swim around freely in order to oxygenate well but the aquarium doesn't allow for that. Another common problem is skin infections because of the unnatural waters they swim in. All animals should be free and not in captivity for the pleasure of humans. Animals should not be thrown away and replaced as commodities because they are not.
