Breaking a 40" Sony Trinitron XBR TV with a hammer.

This thing weighs 300lbs according to the service manual, so we needed to lighten it up to get it disposed of properly, and this is what we did. (technically it's imploding...)

The processor was smoked, wasn't worth me bothering to fix, plus I wanted to smash it anyways...

WHY would you do this?! That television (before being ruined) was one of the nicest sets ever made, worth several hundred dollars (or more to the collector) and you destroyed it?? For what, a few minutes of YouTube fame? Please explain; the only problem that would have been irreparable on this set would be a bad picture tube. I own one of these 40XBR800's, and it's by far the best TV set I've ever had.

It didn't explode, it imploded. However that's probably the best one I've ever seen. Looks like the camera man in the last frame got scared, dropped his camera and ran. LOL

@SpeakerPolice You are a smart person. All of your comments are very astute. HD on a CRT TV is simply better. No motion blur and the color is better More nuanced color and blacker blacks.. CRT HD TV can be found in 1080p. LCD still has some ways to go before it can compare to a good quality CRT HD television.
