NXT concerto - Part 8 - MindWerk

"The Robots" by Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider, and Karl Bartos.
It was quite an obvious choice to let four Alpha Rex's resemble one of the worlds most well known techno bands. And they are actually playing the music all by themselves. The only thing added is the bass and the chords which is played on a Technics organ.
This model was shown on the LEGOWorld exhibition in the Netherlands in October 2007.

what is the blinking light from 1:25 to 1:30 at the bottom from the Stage?

@14MrABC - That is the syncronizing lamp that makes the robots run at the same tempo. One of the robots flashes this lamp for every four beat of the song. The others detect this flash with a light sensor and begin a new segment (or bar) of the song when they see the flash.

Fantastic. Were the overhead lights keeping them in sync or did they stay synchonised by themselves?

"Wolfgang" - the robot that plays the rhytm - is connected to a lamp that is hidden behind the stage. It flashes the lamp on every downbeat. The other robots and the two NXTs that controls the overhead lights are connected to a set of light sensors that reacts to the downbeat-flash. So they are all synchronised to "Wolfgang". I use the same idea in "NXT concerto - part 5" except that there are no robots - only NXTs - and the lamps are visible.
