Derren Brown Lottery 'Trick' - revealed

Check the ball on the right after Derren Brown says '23'. Notice it mysteriously jumps up and is slightly higher than the other 5 balls. (apologies for the camera wobble but my camera is on a tripod, the wobble is from the camera on the show which is programmed to wobble so you can't see the switch of the balls)

So no magic, NLP, psychology or mind-tricks. Just good old fashioned camera trickery.

if it was a split screen why would the ball move up straight away, wouldnt it only move up when it switched back to the live feed after?

Yes - it moved when the pre-recorded feed switched to the live feed.

But watching the show yesterday where how he revealed how it was done, he still asserts that he PREDICTED the results. They guy's a charlatan of the highest order.

Yes.

This has been explained over and over.

1) the first 54 seconds of the broadcast are prerecorded.

2) After that it's live with a fixed base camera.

3) Camera wobble is added digitally to the stream to emulate handheld.

4) When the numbers are being drawn and until Derren writes them down the left of screen is frozen

5) someone steps in and swops the balls

6) the screen reverts back to normal.

That's it.. 100% certainty...

In the sense that this was really just a split camera trick (albeit a sophisticared one - with the appaent randon movements of a handheld camera) but the next week Derren gave all those bullshit explanations. If he truly believed his audience would beleive the crap he came out with the next week - I feel he was insulting everyone's intelligence. When Penn and Teller explain how they do a trick - it is without bullshit about the "power of the human mind" - they just tell you how it was.

@DelveArcana It was a split camera trick. His assistant wrote on the balls as Derren read out the results - hidden by a superimposed shot of just the balls. The cool part was doing it with a supposedly random shaky hand held camera. Captain Disillusion has an explantaion how it was done.
