  • Do you guys even know who Potato Creek Johnny was?

  • John Perrett, more often referred to as Potato Creek Johnny, is credited with finding one of the worlds largest gold nuggets. Though many say the nugget was actually several nuggets melted together, the tale persists, along with stories of Perretts other eccentricities.

  • Slick. Even the bass is played like a percussion instrument.

Found this YouTube video in connection with Chris Kahler video of visit to Potato Creek Johnny grave in Deadwood, SD.

  • Man, it's MUSIC. Chill out.

  • Very Good! But did you know that the "nugget" is, indeed, a fake melted from stolen gold and that he abused his wife Molly both emotionally and physically?

My point is that it is one thing to celebrate tales, but it is quite another to perpetuate inaccurate versions of real people. In either case, Johnny should be left alone if only to rest in peace.
