HMS OCELOT (74" rc model). Demo of the diving system in the test tank (two baths joined togther!). The model dives by an air pump taking air from a central ballast tank and allowing water in. The sub surfaces by blowing the air back into the tank forcing the water back out. Working radar and lights are also fitted and switch off when the front planes are lowered ready to dive. This model is featured in the book 'simply submarines' and was originally built over a period of 18 months by master model maker Alan Poole and completed in 1996. This model won Alan the 'Maritime Award' amongst others due to its high level of acuracy and attention to fine detail.

  • All you need is a bath with a sub nearly the same length!

  • This isnt a normal bath. It is 2 baths with the ends cut off joined together with fibreglass. This model is 74 inches long!

  • does it go or is it stationary?

  • Is is fully funtional as the real thing.

  • @LocustsOfSteel in case you haven't found out between the time you posted that message and now, Bath is a location in England. which makes sense considering this is a British-made Sub...

just a little bit of info for you. don't even need to reopen the vid for it if you're short on time.

  • cool. maybe the camouflage could be improved because i can still spot it underwater!

    :P

  • damn, i need a sub, il stick to ships for now tho XD

  • Used to make these subs as a hobby some even bought my creations sad thing is I ran out of materials and my equipment needs an update but I can still create models from Scrap need more time though

  • Nice model.

I was once on a boat doing a transfer to this class of sub, I almost got caught under the forward dive plane as the swell pushed us under it then up and into it.

I went aboard one in Devonport for a tinny in the junior rates mess, it was tiny and a bit smelly inside.

  • Nice sub.

  • "I remember having a great pisup in bath, with my mates"

Why were you in a bath with your mates?

I don't know what you were trying to say, but it sounds like your confirming that guys who ride in those things turn to the rainbow side of the force...

  • how much was it?
