  • We are going to post this video and LetSpeakHipHop's video responding to this deficiency in Hip Hop culture. Emcees are such divas and arrogant to the fact of history. At least Em respects his elders. That is just Em jabbing at a wack rapper. But dissing Jay Z? A wack ass pop performer who doesnt sing? He is not even Hip Hop. T-Pain needs to diss his engineers and exec producers for encouraging auto tune.

  • Yo thanks man its an honor. I love the website.

  • I like how you used concrete examples here. Let's take soljaboy and Ice T. Ice T may not have made the lyrical content I like (he focussed too much on that pimp bullshit), but he is a legend and is due props. Innovation is welcome in hip hop but it to be hip hop (to me) it has to tie back to the fundamentals of 1) a dope beat (preferably boom bap) and 2) meaningful lyrics with a message. NO SINGING (unless you're GOOD and ONLY do it in the chorus, like my man Mos Def)

  • Thanks man. Yeah man I use the fundamentals as a bar to judge the real from the nonsense too.

  • me and my boy were just talkin about that. Imagine rock folks that about Aerosmith, Kiss, ACDC. They might not get that much play anymore, but they are catapulted to that legendary status and respected as icons...you so beat me to this video.

  • No doubt bruh. You should do a vid on the topic anyway. I would be interested in hearing you break it down and I know others would be too.

  • This video is so fuckin' true.

  • I'll always respect the veterans, the legends. And no, not just because 99.9% of the people out there today are pretty wack to me.. If some of my favorite emcees came out today and dissed the vets, especially for being old then I'd lose all of my respect for that guy. Like with Joe Budden and the Wu (except that I didn't really like Joe in the first place). Idk though, it seems like it's mostly the new, bubble gum rappers that don't respect their elders, those who fathered their style.

  • It is sad because a lot of older artist are still hot. Method Man, Red Man, Jay-Z, Master Ace. Younger artist should not disrespect older artist because one day they will be an old artist themselves. When you get to a certain age what should you do stop listening to hip hop also. In my opinion hip hop seems to be built around disrespect now a days. Emcees look at disrespect as a marketing scheme. They use it to gain attention or a means to shake up their competition. That is a new topic!

  • I dont know the Age thing is really kind of Ironic. I mean you have young people who say an older artist is irrelevant, but the music they listen to rely largely on what they created. On top of that when some of them make their list the first 2 they put up are Pac & Big. So its contradictory in many ways.

But Im starting to see some more back tracking. Ya know you got some older music being played on commercials like Black Sheep and I think it was Kia or something. So I some slight changes.

  • The Originals are always the best, anyone that disses them is an unknowledgable, uncreative idiot.

  • Having grown up with members of the Cold Crush Brothers and Grand Master Flash and the Furious 5 I have to say my brotha you speaking some real shit here. Grand Master Caz, man I will put my every penny on Caz against the likes of 50. Caz be like the BB King of hip hop. He spits wisdom and knowledge all to a funky beat.
