Have been in Taiwan for 12 years now and you are right, typhoons are pretty common here. The people here are tough and resilient.

You guys need a still photographer?

Do you get paid to do this, you have the best job.

Plus the food is most excellent. I myself love bean-curd dishes.

I have lived in both Illinois and Taiwan for more than five years each, and "xamg" clearly demonstrates a lack of meteorological understanding and sense
GREAT video, by the way, keep up the great work!

that amazing... The part where the water from that dam or waterfall was swirling like that was cool.
-
cool, the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane.

CyrusNixes,
Ahh I see, I do apologise, I must have misread the information about tornadoes in the UK. Thanks for the heads up.
I must say Taiwan is one beautiful country.
Love to visit...maybe stay.

My point was, in Taiwan, typhoons are such a regular occurrence that no one is phased by them, and I find it funny that people outside seem so alarmed by them. The U.S. seems very prone to evil weather, in the UK we have more tornadoes than anywhere else in the world, and nobody is killed by them. My point is, some countries are just more subjected to extreme and severe weather, and others are not. I don't see why you have to take my point to its extremes.

Yes I agree with your point about people of Taiwan being very used to typhoons and I really commend Taiwan and Japan on how typhoon hardy they are.
However just because people are used to them should in no way detract from the dangers of typhonos. Look at typhoon Kalmaegi which hit Taiwan in July, it wasn't even a strong typhoon yet it killed 19 people. How about Aere and Nari, they both caused catastrophic flooding.

Lmao it's so funny when I see people who haven't lived in Taipei or other countries prone to typhoons and go "Oh my God! That looks so devastating!" As kids we used to love going swimming in them, in fact, day to day life continues throughout a typhoon, being as they occur so regularly. Not scary at all.

I don't think the survivors and relatives of the victims of Katrina, Nargis, Durian, Charley, Sidr, Bilis, Angela etc would share your sentiment.
